At Unity Academy each provider adopts their own policies and procedures. These are quality assured by the academy as part of the Autumn term safeguarding check to ensure they are aligned with statutory requirements and with the Trust polices.

In line with the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill, schools’ mobile phone guidance is now statutory. The safeguarding of pupils at Unity Academy is paramount. Mobile phones and other portable devices are susceptible to misuse and can be used to access and distribute indecent content. They can be also used for cyber-bullying and the exploitation of our vulnerable young people. Due to the disruptions and distractions they cause, Unity Academy strongly discourages pupils from bringing mobile phones and portable media devices into the provisions. All the providers across the network have documented protocols regarding mobile phones (used to cover all portable devices, eg smart watches). This includes the expectations and routines regarding handing over the mobile phone at the start of the day and secure storage. If you have any questions, please contact the academy or the provider directly.
