Assessment Pathways

At Unity Academy, we recognise that pupils face many barriers to their learning when they are admitted to the academy. To ensure all pupils receive a needs-led, high-quality inclusive education, pupils are assessed against one of three discreet assessment pathways. These are not curriculum pathways, but rather a guide to inform targeted priorities and next steps, allowing each child to reach their full potential and not limit what a child can achieve.

The pathways allow progress to be evidenced for key priorities that are bespoke for the child.

Assessment pathways are fluid, allowing children to move between pathways following ongoing assessment, pupil experiences and needs.

Unity Academy uses baseline and termly assessment data to provide support and challenge to the alternative provisions, to help inform pupil placement and support the pupil’s journey.

All pupils, regardless of their Assessment Pathway can access the full curriculum programme (there is no ceiling height), however, this approach is needs-led, therefore there will be times when a child requires a greater focus on foundation learning .
